Govt to finalize all recruitments before polls: senior secretary

DHAKA, Sept 03, 2025 (BSS) - Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Md Mokhlesur Rahman today said the all recruitments, including those in police, will be finalized before the national elections.

"Instructions from the Chief Adviser are to finalize recruitments in police and all concerned jobs before the national elections," he told journalists, emerging from a meeting on amendment to recruitment rules at the Ministry of Public Administration.

 Rahman said, "We held the meeting to amend recruitment rules for appointment of 4,000 ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) where law, finance and public administration ministry's concerned officers were present."

"We are observing all activities of deputy commissioners (DCs) at field level. Those who are doing well might not be withdrawn. But those who are promoted as joint secretary will be withdrawn before polls," he said.

The senior secretary said appointment of deputy commissioner (DC) and upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) will not be done through lottery system, as this system was not applied earlier.

He said during the polls time, two types of administration work in the field - civil administration and police. They are called filed administration together, he added. 

"So, we are working to strengthen the field administration", he added.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Baharul Alam said that 4000 ASI will be recruited before the national elections.
