4 firemen injured in chemical warehouse explosion in Tongi

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) – Four fire service personnel were injured, two of them with critical wounds in an explosion at the chemical go down at Tongi, on the outskirts of the capital this afternoon.
 
One officer and three fire fighters sustained injuries when an explosion took place at a chemical go down while they were dousing a flame erupted in  a tin-shed chemical warehouse at Sahara Market at Tongi in Gazipur around 3:29pm today.
 
Media officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Talha bin Zasim told  BSS.
 
Fire officer Zannatul Naim and fire fighter Shamim were critically injured in the explosion while fire-fighters Nurul Huda and Joy Hasan also sustained wounds, he said.
 
All of them were admitted to National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIPBS) for treatment, he added.
 
Seven fire fighting engines have been working to douse the flame till filing of the report around 7 :06 pm today.
