CHATTOGRAM, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) – Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation Dr. Shahdat Hossain has emphasized the vital role of students in building a corruption-free, prosperous, and beautiful society, city, and nation.

He said students must utilize their talents and abilities to grow into honest, capable, and ideal individuals for the betterment of the country.

The mayor made these remarks while addressing as chief guest at the freshers’ reception for HSC (11th class) students of Chattogram Government Commerce College today. The program was presided over by College Principal Professor Md. Shah Alamgir.

Highlighting the recent movement, Dr. Shahdat said Bangladesh has made significant progress in overcoming violence, torture, injustice, and extrajudicial killings over the past 16 years.

He stressed the importance of safeguarding the new Bangladesh, earned through sacrifice and blood during the July Uprising.
