World Teacher's Day 2025 celebrated at Rajshahi University

RAJSHAHI, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS)- Rajshahi University (RU) marked World Teacher's 
Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration that included a procession, discussion 
meeting, teacher awards and essay competition.

The event, organised by the university administration, took place at the 
campus premises here today (Sunday).
 
The celebration began with a procession at 10 am, which started from the 
Senate Building premises and passed through the major roads of the campus, 
returning to its starting point.

Following the procession, discussion meeting, teacher award ceremonies and 
prize-giving to the winners of the essay competition were held at the Senate 
Auditorium.
 
This year, celebrations revolve around the theme "Recasting teaching as a 
collaborative profession", emphasising the transformative power of teamwork 
in education.

Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hassan Naquib and Pro-VC Prof Farid 
Uddin Khan addressed the discussion as the chief and special guests 
respectively, while another Pro-VC Prof Mayeen Uddin was in the chair.

Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib emphasized the essential role teachers' play in 
shaping students' lives, noting that students are the future of society.

He stated that if teachers educate students effectively, the country will 
prosper with a well-developed society.

He also highlighted that teachers' serve as both role models and mentors to 
students, and called attention to the challenges facing the teaching 
profession today.

Prof Hassan Naquib expressed concern over the declining respect for teachers, 
citing various socio-political changes that have contributed to this trend.

The need for strong teacher-student relationships to maintain a positive 
educational environment and elevate the country's global standing was also 
discussed.
 
The event concluded with the distribution of teacher awards, recognizing the 
invaluable contributions of educators in the academic community. 

The awarded teachers are-- Prof Azhar Uddin, Prof Nazrul Islam and Prof 
Mamnunul Keramat.
