
SYLHET, Nov 2, (BSS) - Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) celebrated its 19th founding anniversary today with colorful events.
To mark the day, the SAU authorities hosted several events, including flag hoisting, balloon and pigeon release, cake cutting, tree plantation and a festive rally.
Alongside, a seminar titled "Post-24 Uprising Bangladesh: The Role of Agricultural Education and Research in Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development" was held at the central auditorium with Prof. Mohammad Samiul Ahsan Talukder in the chair.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, Prof Sarwar emphasized the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence for sustainable and profitable agriculture.
"Agricultural universities play a vital role in achieving sustainable rural development and food security," he said, emphasizing maximum use of modern technology, especially artificial intelligence, to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve decision-making in all stages of crop production.
SAU Deans' Council convener Prof. Nirmal Chandra Roy, Provost Council convener Prof. Mohammad Kawser Hossain, registrar Prof. Md. Asad-Ud-Daula and proctor Prof. Jasim Uddin Ahmed were present at the workshop, among others.
