DHAKA, De 11, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today said all the relevant institutions and forces will work to ensure safe and festive participation of voters in the upcoming national polls.

“The voting ceremony will turn into a festival through your spontaneous participation,” he said in a televised address to the nation while announcing the schedule of the 13th National Election and Referendum this evening.

Nasir Uddin said, “The voting is not just your civic rights but also a sacred rights and responsibility. I believe that you will fulfil this responsibility consciously. Reach above any fear, temptation, deception and limitations, and exercise your right to vote without hesitation.”

He said all the relevant organisations and forces will work to ensure safe and festive participation of voters.

Everyone, regardless of religion, tribe, group, gender, should participate in this joyous event, he said, adding “Come and vote with everyone in the family, including the disabled, the elderly and children, if possible. I hope the voting ceremony will turn into a festival through your spontaneous participation.”

Mentioning the expatriate voters, the CEC said the registration process for voting from abroad has been ongoing since November 18.

“You can register to vote from anywhere in the world through the Postal Vote BD app until December 25. You can take this opportunity to participate in the vote.

“Understand your rights in building the country. In addition to expatriate voters, three types of voters within the country can vote at postal ballot boxes, which I have already mentioned,” he said.

Apart from expatriate voters, he said three types of voters can register for postal voting from tomorrow until December 25, 2025 through the Postal Vote BD app and in the prescribed manner.

“My appeal to individual voters and institutions is that let us ensure our voting rights and do not participate in the vote.”

Warning against the use of artificial intelligence, Nasir Uddin said currently, various misleading information is being spread through social media.

“Especially, the spread of false information using artificial intelligence is increasing day by day. In addition to denigrating the opposing party and candidate, hateful propaganda against women undermines our tradition and maligns the election,” he said.

The CEC said necessary measures will be taken to prevent this according to the existing laws of the country.

“My special request to you is not to listen to any information spread for untrue and malicious purposes. Remember that sharing false information is also a punishable offense,” he added.

The CEC asked candidates and parties to follow the election code of conduct to make the polls a festive one.
Mentioning the people to be responsible in holding the polls, he said the Election Commission is committed to carrying out its duties with transparency, impartiality and firmness.

“As part of the commission, you will fearlessly carry out your duties with honesty and impartiality. Remember that no laxity or negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

“The role of colleagues from the media and observation organizations is immense in a beautiful and acceptable election ceremony. You will independently carry out your duties with the utmost professionalism, impartiality and objectivity,” he said.

The CEC called upon all to play a historic role in the country’s democratic progress by making the upcoming 13th general elections and referendum, which will be held on February 12, 2026, a success.
