DHAKA, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has refuted
reports published by certain media outlets that falsely attributed statements
to DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali regarding the security of candidates in the
13th national parliament election.

In a clarification issued today, the DMP stated that the Commissioner did not
make any such comments to any media outlet concerning candidate security.

Authorities described the circulated statements as baseless, untrue, and
deliberately fabricated.

The DMP emphasized that the misleading reports do not reflect the
Commissioner's views or any official position of the police force.

Calling on the public to remain cautious, the DMP urged citizens not to be
misled by inaccurate or false news.

The police authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and
responsible communication, especially during the sensitive election period,
and advised media outlets to verify information from reliable and official
sources before publication.
