DHAKA, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) - Crowds continued to throng to pay tribute at the grave of Bangladesh's first female Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

In the morning today, people from various walks of life, including BNP leaders and activists, gathered at her grave at Zia Uddan in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with flowers in hand. Despite the foggy weather, an emotional atmosphere prevailed there since morning.

On the spot, it was seen that the gravesite turned into a confluence of respect and love with the presence of ordinary people as well as party leaders and activists. Many recalled the political life, leadership, and sacrifices of their beloved leader.

Maksuda Rima, organizing secretary of the Chhatra Dal of Begum Badrunnessa Government Women’s College, told BSS that Khaleda Zia was a symbol of democracy. Her uncompromising leadership will remain eternally memorable in Bangladesh’s politics. Her love for the people and her role in serving them are still remembered with respect.

A former Chhatra Dal leader of Rajshahi University said, "We have lost a guardian with the passing of Khaleda Zia. Her contributions to the country cannot be fully described."

A member of the Arafat Rahman Koko Sports Club told BSS that the struggle of the national leader Begum Khaleda Zia will inspire future generations. Her sacrifices for democracy will be remembered in history, he added.

At that time, leaders and activists of BNP and its associated organizations paid tribute by placing flowers at the grave and participated in prayers and munajats seeking divine mercy for her soul.
