Salehuddin urges 'Yes' vote in upcoming referendum

SIRAJGANJ, Jan 16, 2026 (BSS) - Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology, has urged citizens to vote 'Yes' in the upcoming referendum to facilitate ongoing reforms.

He made the call during the launch of the 'Voter Gari Super Caravan' in Sirajganj, a programme designed to promote the referendum and encourage voter participation.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed inaugurated the caravan as the chief guest.

"We have not come to power, but to serve. While not all desired reforms have been fully implemented, significant progress has been made," the adviser said.

"To sustain this reform process, cast your vote in favour of 'Yes' (on February 12 -- the national election date)," he said. 

"A 'Yes' vote will bring development, ensure good governance, restore citizens' rights, and curb fascist activities," he said.

The event, organised by the Sirajganj district administration, was presided over by Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid. 

Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Finance Secretary Dr. Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md. Anwar Hossain and Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Md Saiful Islam attended the event as special guests.

Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Santu, Principal of Sirajganj Government College Prof Mahidul Hasan, District Election Officer Aminur Rahman, along with senior officials, teachers, staff and students from government and non-government institutions, were also present.

The event attracted a large crowd even an hour before it began.
