Stall rent of Ekushey Book Fair reduced by 55percent

DHAKA, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS)- The Bangla Academy authorities have decided to reduce  stall rent  for Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 by 55 percent.

This information was revealed in a press release issued today by member-secretary of the fair's organising committee Dr Md Selim Reza.

A meeting was held with publishers at Shaheed Munir Chowdhury conference room of Bangla Academy here today, regarding the upcoming Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2026. 
The meeting was presided over by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

At the meeting, publishers presented various demands to the government, highlighting the current situation of the publication industry. The Cultural Affairs Adviser agreed with most of the demands, including the formulation of a book policy.

He urged the publishers to submit a written proposal on the matter to the ministry.

Farooki announced the government's decision to reduce the stall rent by 55 percent for publishers participating in the book fair that will start  from February 20. 

The book fair authorities will return the additional money which was already deposited by the publishers to the academy. 
Those who have not yet deposited the money can deposit the money directly at the newly announced rent rate.

Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Mofidur Rahman, Director General of Bangla Academy Professor Mohammad Azam, the member-secretary of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 Steering Committee and other committee members were present at the meeting.
