Mamata Banerjee greets Tarique Rahman

DHAKA, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS) – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on his party’s victory in the 13th National Parliament Election.

In a post from her verified X handle (formerly Twitter) at 1:00 pm today, she addressed him as “My Tarique Bhai.”
“My hearty congratulations, shubhonandan, to all my brothers and sisters, all the people of Bangladesh. My advance Ramazan Mubarak to all of them,” the chief minister said.
She added, “For this great victory, my congratulations to my Tarique Bhai, his party and other parties. May you all be well and happy.”

Mamata Banerjee also expressed hope that Bangladesh-India relations would always remain cordial.

The 13th National Parliament Election 2026 and a referendum were held in the country yesterday. Voting continued from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, after which counting began.

The Election Commission started announcing results sent by the returning officers last night and completed the announcement this morning.

The BNP, led by Tarique Rahman, secured an absolute majority in the elections.
