
JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Mar 12, 2026 (BSS) - The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have temporarily expelled a student over allegations of cyber bullying, using abusive language and threatening behaviour against another student.
The decision was taken following a complaint filed by a student of the English Department, according to an office order issued today and signed by acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman.
The punished student, Golam Rabbani, a 50th batch student of the Botany Department under the 2020-21 academic session and a resident of Nawab Salimullah Hall, was reportedly alleged of cyber bullying, using obscene language and making threats.
As per the order, he has been temporarily expelled from the university under Clause 4(1)(B) of the Jahangirnagar University Students' Disciplinary Ordinance, 2018.
During the period of suspension, the student will not be allowed to stay at any residential hall of the university, the order added.
Meanwhile, the university authorities formed a five-member probe body, headed by Associate Professor Tamalika Sultana of Government and Politics Department, to investigate the allegations and asked it to submit a report within 15 working days, according to another office order today signed by acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman.
