DHAKA, March 21, 2026 (BSS) – Md Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Chief Whip of the Opposition in Parliament, today said that people are celebrating the joy of Eid-ul-Fitr in a country free from fascism.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers this morning at the Purbo Para Jame Mosque in the Beraid area of the capital, according to a press release.

Nahid said that if the government does not take steps to form a Constitutional Reform Commission, the opposition will intensify pressure both inside and outside Parliament after Eid.

Emphasizing the need for adequate time to properly assess a government’s performance, the opposition Chief Whip added that the current administration has already undertaken several initiatives promptly, including the distribution of family cards, in line with its commitments.
