Dr Zubaida Rahman holds meeting with US Special Envoy

DHAKA, March 25, 2026 (BSS) –Dr. Zubaida Rahman, eminent physician, social worker and spouse of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, today held a meeting with United States (US) Special Envoy Charles J. Harder. 

The comprehensive discussion focused on institutionalizing welfare for future generations and exploring strategic avenues of bilateral interest to ensure national prosperity through robust mutual cooperation, according to information released by the BNP media cell via Facebook post.

The exchange of views underscored the imperative of cultivating a safe and healthy environment for children, recognizing such efforts as foundational to the nation's long-term stability.

Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Special Envoy Harder deliberated on comprehensive strategies to achieve sustainable progress within the education and public health sectors.

They discussed on establishment of safe and hygienic environments for the holistic development of children; strategic initiatives for sustainable progress in the national education system; advancement of public health frameworks to ensure the long-term well-being of the youth and mechanisms for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the social sector.

They emphasized that family-based stability serves as the primary bedrock for child welfare, facilitating subsequent growth in health and social integration. 

The high-level meeting was attended by a distinguished delegation that included Dhaka University Professor Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan, Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Tarique Md. Ariful Islam, US Deputy Chief of Mission D. M. Salahuddin Mahmud, Senior Medical Officer to the Prime Minister Dr. Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah, and women entrepreneur Mehnaz Mannan.
