Prof Dilara Hafiz's Namaz-e-Janaza tomorrow

DHAKA, March 29, 2026 (BSS)- The Namaz-e-Janaza of noted educationist Professor Dilara Hafiz, wife of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, will be held at 11:00am on Monday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building in the capital.

The National Parliament Secretariat shared the information in a press release today.
 
Dilara Hafiz passed away while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital on Saturday at 11:29am [Bangladesh time] at the age of 78 (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).

She was born in a respected Muslim family in Sunamganj district. Her father's name was Mohammad Abul Hossain Chowdhury and mother Karimunnesa Khatun Chowdhury. 

She earned her Honours and Master's degree from the University of Dhaka (DU). 
Dilara Hafiz began her career as a lecturer at Government Eden College. 
Subsequently, she served successively as Principal of Sohrawardi College and Eden Mohila College, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board and Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education.

Prof Dilara Hafiz is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter and grandchildren and a host of relatives, colleagues and well-wishers.
