One more dies of measles in 24 hrs

DHAKA, April 14, 2026 (BSS)- One more patient has died from measles in the country in the last 24 hours, while eight additional deaths were suspected to be linked to the disease.

The information was disclosed in a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today. 

According to the report, 1,105 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country in the past 24 hours, while 176 cases were laboratory-confirmed. 

The release said that from March 15 to April 14, a total of 2,897 confirmed measles cases and 18,129 suspected cases were reported. 

During the same timeframe 9,304 patients recovered and returned home from hospitals.

Since March 15, a total of 31 deaths have been confirmed due to measles, while 164 deaths were reported as suspected cases during the same period. 

The highest number of suspected infections was recorded in Dhaka division, with 7,758 cases, including 1,706 confirmed infections.
