DHAKA, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - The ministry of power, energy and mineral resources today gave an explanation on the news regarding the so-called US concession on Russian fuel imports, a ministry clarification said.

"No authorized official of the ministry provided any information, confirmation or comment to any media outlet in this regard," it said while the ministry observed that some media outlets published news today mentioning 60-day concession or any plan to import 10 lakh tonnes of diesel from Russia during April 11, 2026 to June 9, 2026.

The clarification said that the ministry does not have any official information, updated information or communication regarding any US concession on Russian fuel imports or any proposal, decision or arrangement by the government to purchase 10 lakh tonnes of diesel from Russia.

Therefore, such news was not published based on any authorized information provided by the energy and mineral resources division, it said.

The ministry, however, said that unauthorized publication of sensitive information in the name of the energy and mineral resources division could create confusion in the national energy policy and international engagement.
