Edu Ministry proposes 1,461 temporary posts in 11 govt colleges

DHAKA, April 18, 2026 (BSS) - The Education Ministry has requested approval from the Finance Ministry to create 1,461 temporary teaching posts in 11 government colleges.

The proposed posts include 255 professors, 213 associate professors, 458 assistant professors and 535 lecturers.

The request was sent to the Finance Ministry secretary through a letter signed by Manjurul Alam, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Government College-5 Branch under the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education on Thursday.

Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel told BSS that a wider proposal is under consideration to create new posts in 91 government colleges. He said recruitment would begin soon if the proposal for 11 colleges is approved first.

In view of the requirements of the Expenditure Management Division of the Finance Department, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has been requested to provide its opinion on the matter mentioned above.

In its response, DSHE has recommended reconsidering the proposal for creating 1,461 posts in 11 government colleges and taking necessary steps accordingly.
