TANGAIL, April 25, 2026 (BSS) - Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate Ahmad Azam Khan today said that the Awami League (AL) government has left the country’s economy in a dire condition through corruption.
“The present government took up the responsibility to run the state with empty hands,” he said this while addressing a distribution programme at Sakhipur upazila parishad hall here as the chief guest.
The event was organized to distribute free fertilizers and seeds among the farmers to boost Aus paddy cultivation and production during the Kharif-1 season. Under the Livestock Dairy Development Project (LDDP), farming inputs were also distributed among local livestock farmers.
The minister said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working to ensure transparency in all aspects of governance and has instructed others to do the same. “That is why we do not use air conditioners in our ministry offices; we use fans instead,” he said.
He further stated that the government’s goal is to build a corruption-free country and elevate it to a middle-income country within the next five years, using limited resources effectively.
At the event, 250 marginal farmers received fertilizers and seeds, while 350 livestock farmers were provided with various inputs aimed at improving their skills and productivity.
The programme was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Roni. Among others, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shamsun Nahar Shila, Officer-in-Charge of Sakhipur Police Station Md. Halal Uddin, Acting President of the Upazila BNP Nazim Uddin, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Saidur Rahman and Upazila Agriculture Officer Noyonta Barman, were present at the function.
