Doa, milad held at BSS marking Ziaur Rahman’s 45th martyrdom anniversary

DHAKA, June 1, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) today organized a doa and milad mahfil marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of the country's independence and founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at the programme held at the boardroom of the national news agency's head office in the capital.

Prayers were also offered for the late former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and for the late Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. 

The participants also prayed for peace, welfare and prosperity of the nation and sought good health and long life for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Taking part in the programme, BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Kamal Uddin Shabuj said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had introduced a transformative trend in Bangladesh's political history, which remains equally relevant today.

He said the vision of the statecraft, production-oriented economy and people-centric politics introduced by Ziaur Rahman continues to serve as an important guideline for national development and democratic progress.
Shabuj said BNP, the party founded by Ziaur Rahman, has been continuing its welfare-oriented activities under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, inspired by the thoughts and ideals of the late president.

BSS Journalists, officers and employees attended the prayer programme and recalled with respect the eventful life, patriotism and contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to national development.
