Heat wave to continue across large parts of country: Met Office

DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today said the ongoing heatwave sweeping over the country will continue. 

"Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi & Khulna divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Manikgonj, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Barishal, Patuakhali & Bhola and it may continue," said a Met office bulletin issued this morning.

Besides, the BMD forecasted rain in different parts of the country in next 24 hours commencing 9 am. 

It predicted that light to moderate rain/thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind and lightning flashes, would occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna & Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy falls may occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin said.

The highest temperature on Tuesday was 38.5 degrees Celsius in Sayedpur under Rangpur division, while today's minimum temperature is 23.3 degrees Celsius in Sylhet. 

The sun sets at 6.43 pm today and rises at 5.11 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
