KHULNA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information
Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam today said the government is committed
to developing local industries, creating employment opportunities and
building a technology-driven economy.

The country's industrial sector can be taken to a new height through the
integration of skilled human resources, innovation and modern management in
the production sector, he said.

Faqir Mahbub Anam, also Science and Technology Minister, made the remark
while exchanging views with officers and employees after visiting the
activities of Bangladesh Cable Shilpa Limited (BCSL) here, said a ministry
release.

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju was present on
the occasion.

The minister said, "The role of local industrial enterprises is very
important in strengthening Bangladesh's telecommunications infrastructure.
BCSL has been making significant contributions to the development of the
country's communication and information technology sectors. The institution
must move further ahead by enhancing technological capabilities and producing
products of international standards."

Mentioning that BCSL manufactures cables of different generations, he said
efforts must continue to replace old technologies with new ones.

At the same time, there is a need for effective planning, adoption of
marketing policies, fast distribution and the development of a proactive
marketing network, he noted.

The minister further said the institution must be considered one's own, as
only then can its development be ensured.

He also assured the officers and employees that whatever is necessary for the
development of BCSL would be done.

The minister also inspected the production activities of the institution,
observed different stages of the production process and enquired about its
overall operations.

He laid emphasis on increasing productivity, ensuring quality standards and
expanding the use of modern technologies.

He praised the dedication, professionalism and efficiency of the officers and
employees and called upon all concerned to work collectively for the overall
development of the institution.

After the visit, the minister planted a sapling of a local mango variety on
the premises of BCSL.

BCSL Senior officials were present during the visit. They briefed the
minister about the institution's production activities, future plans and
ongoing development programmes.
