DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki today said the government has undertaken a series of major initiatives to strengthen development project implementation, improve monitoring systems, and ensure efficient use of public resources.

“The ongoing reforms aim to enhance transparency, reduce delays, and ensure that all approved projects are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner,” he said while speaking at a briefing at the NEC Conference Room here.

Zonayed Saki said the government is focusing on improving overall project management capacity through institutional reforms and stricter administrative oversight.

He added that emphasis is being placed on ensuring accountability at every stage of development planning and execution.

Ministries and implementing agencies have been instructed to prioritize efficiency and avoid unnecessary duplication of projects in the Annual Development Programme (ADP), he added.

The state minister highlighted that monitoring mechanisms are being reinforced through the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), which will play a more proactive role in tracking project progress and identifying implementation gaps.

He said that recommendations from monitoring reports will now be acted upon more systematically to ensure corrective measures are taken without delay.

Zonayed Saki said a centralized digital dashboard is being introduced to enable real-time tracking of development projects by key government institutions, including the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Finance, and the Prime Minister’s Office.

He added that this initiative will improve coordination among agencies and ensure faster decision-making based on updated project data.

He said that the government is also introducing measures to ensure time-bound implementation of Development Project Proposals (DPP), procurement processes, and land acquisition activities.

Zonayed Saki said that reforms are underway to strengthen the role and accountability of Project Directors (PDs), ensuring that they are fully responsible for project outcomes.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, he said all development projects must deliver measurable benefits to citizens and contribute effectively to national development goals.

He emphasized that the objective of the reforms is to ensure maximum value from public investment while eliminating wastage and inefficiency.

Zonayed Saki expressed optimism that the ongoing initiatives will significantly improve the quality and speed of development project implementation, contributing to stronger economic growth and improved public service delivery.
