DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) added batter
Soumya Sarkar to the squad for the three-match T20 series against Australia
which begins in Chattogram tomorrow.
Soumya last played a T20 International against the West Indies in December
2024. He featured in the final two matches of Bangladesh's in the recently
concluded ODI series against Australia after missing out on the opening game.
The 33-year old left-handed batter has played 87 T20Is for Bangladesh,
scoring 1462 runs at an average of 17.82 and a strike rate of 122.13.
Explaining the decision to include Soumya in the squad, Bangladesh T20
captain Liton said his own availability remains uncertain while opener Parvez
Hossain Emon is also unwell.
"Since I am fifty-fifty, I don't know what can happen, we have to wait until
tomorrow," said Liton who sustained a muscle cramp during the third ODI
against Australia.
"Emon is also a little sick. That's why we didn't take the risk and added
Soumya into the squad."
