DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) today launched
its Tree Plantation Programme-2026 as part of efforts to enhance the
country's forest resources and maintain ecological balance.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on June 13 inaugurated the nationwide "25 Crore
Tree Plantation in Five Years" campaign. In line with the government's
initiative, the BAF has undertaken the tree plantation programme across its
establishments, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services
Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.

Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan inaugurated the programme by planting a
sapling at the Air Force Headquarters premises in Dhaka Cantonment this
morning.

Under the programme, the Air Force will plant a variety of fruit-bearing,
timber and medicinal trees, the release said.

It said under the overall guidance of the Air Chief, the BAF will conduct
aerial seed dispersal operations in remote coastal areas and the rugged
terrain of the Chattogram Hill Tracts by dropping seed balls from helicopters
to support afforestation efforts.

Similar seed-ball dispersal operations had previously been carried out in
several remote coastal regions of the country, the release mentioned.

Principal Staff Officers of Air Headquarters joined the inaugural programme
by planting saplings, while directors and other senior officers were also
present.

The Tree Plantation Programme-2026 will also be implemented at all Bangladesh
Air Force bases and units, as well as at schools and colleges run by the Air
Force across the country, the ISPR added.
