Milon for ensuring digital vigilance thru CCTV cameras at exam centres

CHATTOGRAM, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said installation of CCTV cameras at examination centers is essential to ensure digital oversight. 

"In 2006, we eliminated the term 'fake'. We no longer wish to discuss it. Now the concept of 'fake' has evolved into digital formats, which must be addressed similarly,” said the minister during a view-exchange meeting about HSC and equivalent examinations for 2026 at Chattogram College auditorium this afternoon. 

Officials, including representatives from the Chattogram board, Madrasa, and technical education board of the Chattogram region, as well as secretaries from the examination centers attended the meeting.  

State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, and city Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, among others, spoke at the event with Chattogram Education Board Chairman Professor Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhuryin the chair. 

The Education Minister said due to a backlog of approximately 30,000 cases, it was not possible to appoint teachers to vacant positions in numerous educational institutions nationwide. 
Legal disputes have also been blocking promotion of teachers to head-teacher positions, he added.  

About the budget allocation for the education sector, he said the present government has allocated a substantial and realistic amount of Tk 1.36 trillion for education and assured that the proper utilization of the funds will be guaranteed.

About question leaks the he said the education ministry, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, is working diligently to eliminate those involved in such unethical practice. He said 100% transparency will be maintained in examinations. 

As a special guest, State Minister land Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is committed to establishing a superior education system in Bangladesh. To achieve this, the Ministry of Education and the government are formulating various policies, he added. 

 "Those who execute the government's policies at the grassroots level are our esteemed teachers. You should carry out your responsibilities with sincerity and dedication. If we fail to do so, our future generations will not be deprived of proper education," he added.

The meeting was also attended by special guests including Alhaj Ershad Ullah, MP,  Abu Sufian, MP, Sayed Al Noman, MP,  Divisional Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ziauddin, Technical Education Board Chairman Engineer Md. Ruhul Amin, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board Chairman Professor Khondaker Mohammad Sadequr Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah and Chattogram College Principal Mojahidul Islam
