Five dengue patients die in last 24 hrs

DHAKA, June 29, 2026 (BSS)- Five dengue patients died and 172 have been hospitalized due to dengue fever across the country during the last 24 hours, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

"During the period, 37 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division(outside the city), 28 from Chattogram Division (outside the city), two from Dhaka Division (outside the city), 16 from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 17 from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), two from Mymensingh Division (outside the city), 8 from Rajshahi Division (outside the city) and 14 from Khulna Division (outside the city)," the release added.

During the same period, 100 dengue patients were discharged from the hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 5,455.

So far this year, a total of 5,924 people have been infected with dengue, of which 62.1 percent are male and 37.9 percent are female. A total of 18 deaths have been reported this year.

In 2025, a total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue, with 413 deaths recorded. In 2024, the total number of infections stood at 101,214, with 575 deaths.

Dengue fever remains a significant public health concern in the country as seasonal outbreaks continue to affect thousands each year.
