
DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Four more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 773 children were newly reported with measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A DGHS press release issued today said no child was confirmed to have died from measles in the last 24 hours, although four children died with symptoms consistent with the disease.
The health authorities said 74 children were newly confirmed to have measles during the period, while 699 others were reported with measles-like symptoms.
During the same period, 649 children were admitted to hospitals for treatment, while 498 were discharged after recovery.
Since March 15, a total of 689 children have died with measles symptoms across the country, while 95 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles.
According to the DGHS, the cumulative number of suspected measles cases has reached 116,710 since March 15, including 14,318 laboratory-confirmed cases.
Of the total suspected cases, 99,249 patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 95,529 have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
