Govt to construct 10 sports villages, playgrounds at union level: Aminul

NARAYANGANJ, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque today said the government is planning to construct sports ground at every union and construct 10 sports village in 10 districts.

The state minister came up with the plan while speaking as the chief guest at the final event of Begum Khaleda Zia Football Tournament (bellow 17 years) at Osmani Stadium, at Masdair here.

He said, "We have a plan to establish an international standard sports village in Narayanganj. The sports village will also have different indoor and outdoor modern gaming facilities including football, cricket, archery, shooting and swimming."

The state minister said the prime minister is working to build a sound nation through encouraging sports, saying that the government is implementing different initiatives to encourage the present generation toward sports by reducing their device addiction.

"We are working to make the sports compulsory at the textbook. We want cooperation from all quarters for building a drug free society", said the state minster.

Lawmakers Nazrul Islam Azad, Azharul Islam Manan, Narayanganj Development Authority (NDA) Chairman Mashukul Islam Rajib, district council administrator Professor Mamun Mahmud and political leaders, among others, attended the function.
