Court grants petition to quiz Chinmoy at jail gate over assault on cops

CHATTOGRAM, May 26, 2025 (BSS)-A Chattogram Court today granted petition to quiz ISKCON leader and spokesman of Sanatani Jagaran Jote Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at the jail gate in a case filed against him for assaulting on duty police  at the court premises. 

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin passed the order on Monday afternoon after hearing the petition submitted by the investigation officer of the case. 
 
Confirming the matter, Assistant Public Prosecutor Advocate Md. Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury   said that during the bail hearing of Chinmoy Das, who is now in jail in a sedition case, there was an attack on the police and vandalism in the court premises.
 
Earlier, on May 18, the court ordered Chinmoy   to be grilled at the jail gate in the sedition case for the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam and disrespecting  the national flag.

Meanwhile, Chinmoy was arrested from Dhaka on November 25 last year in a sedition case for disrespecting the Bangladeshi flag. He is currently in Chittagong Central Jail.

A total of six cases were filed at the city's Kotwali thana including murder of a lawyer, attacks on police, vandalism of vehicles, attacks on lawyers and litigants, and cocktail explosions.
