Individual awareness crucial for prevention of graft: ACC Commissioner

KUSHTIA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) – Commissioner of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Miah Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi today laid emphasis on individual awareness to prevent corruption in society.

“Individual awareness is essential to prevent corruption in the society,” he said while addressing a public hearing at Shilpakala Academy auditorium here today.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md Towfiqur Rahman, the ACC held 178th public hearing to build social awareness against corruption and to prevent corruption from the society.

Among others, ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman, also spoke at the event. Moinul Hasan Rowshani, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Kushtia Integrated District Office, delivered the welcome speech.

ACC Commissioner (Enquiry) Brig. Gen. (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid said, “Our weakness is corruption”. He urged all to stay away from corruption and discharge responsibility rightly.

The main objective of the public hearing is to eliminate corruption from the country by ensuring access to government services and increasing honesty, integrity, accountability and values among government officials.

A total of 64 complain were received and held hearing. Of them, four complains were taken for investigation while two were taken for conducting enforcement drive.
