Former CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim said the 1971 liberation war was not just a nine-month struggle rather the nation achieved freedom from the Pakistani subjugation through the continuation of the movement and struggle.
“Awami League has distorted history.
They have distorted the history of the liberation war intentionally to achieve political interests.
The Awami League’s narrative was that they wanted development and political stability for development.
For this, they want the continuity of their government. In this way, they established fascism,” he said.
Mentioning that in order to carry out reforms, people must be developed as a political force, he further said that elections are needed to make reforms permanent and reforms are needed to make elections fair.
Former Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) Vice-President Ragib Ahsan Munna said Comrade Rono was a man of complete human qualities who worked for the people.
“His memory will be immortal in the political history of Bangladesh.
At this moment of political crisis in Bangladesh, we are feeling the vacuum of Comrade Rono,” he said.

“He has written about two dozen books. Without clear Marxist thinking, our movement will not be successful.
Those who will carry out anti-imperialist movements in the future will have to prepare in such a way to be as selfless, loyal, and honest as he was,” he said.
Comrade Haider Akbar Khan Rono's daughter Rana Sultana said, Comrade Rono was not just her father rather he was her comrade.
