DHAKA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today said BNP has been continuing its fight to restore democracy.

"Though fascist Awami League regime has been overthrown but democracy is yet to be restored. That's why BNP continues its fight for restoring democracy. Democracy will be restored by realizing the people's right to vote," he said.

Gayeshwar told journalists after paying tributes along with former president of Narayanganj District Chhatra Dal Zakir Khan at the grave of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.

Gayeshwar said many false cases have been filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia while there was even an attempt to kill her.

He said that former Narayanganj District Chhatra Dal president Zakir Khan is a brave leader. During the rule of the Awami League this Chhatra Dal leader was the victim of many attacks and cases.

Gayeshwar Roy wished Zakir's success in politics.
