DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former deputy speaker Md Shamsul Haque Tuku and his sons SM Asif Shams and SM Nasif Shams over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The court also ordered to block their national ID (NID).

ACC deputy director (public relations) Akterul Islam said the ACC is investigating the allegations of amassing huge illegal wealth by Tuku as he engaged in different financial crimes by using his political influence.

"He is now behind bars after getting arrested in different cases. He may flee the country after coming out of jail on bail, which can hinder the investigation of the anti-graft body. So, a travel ban should be imposed on him and his two sons," the ACC plea said.
