DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former inspector general (IG) of the Directorate of Registration Khan Md Abdul Mannan and his wife Shakila Begum over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The court also ordered to block their national ID (NID).

The ACC, in its plea, said the commission is probing allegations against Mannan and others of amassing illegal wealth of Taka hundreds of crores through the appointment and transfer of sub-registrars, appointment and transfer of officials and staff of his office, appointing a couple of hundred copyists, and selling of licences among hundreds of deed writers.

"The investigation is very important for tackling money laundering in the country. The accused may try to flee the country, and that is why a travel ban should be imposed on him," the plea added.
