Travel ban imposed on Meghna Group Chairman Mostafa Kamal

DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on the 
Chairman and Managing Director of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) Mostafa 
Kamal over graft allegations.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the 
order allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 
 
The anti-graft body, in its plea, said there are allegations of embezzling 
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of different banks by Suchona 
Foundation Chairperson Saima Wazed and others. It has already formed a seven-
member probe team to investigate allegations of causing loss of state funds 
by abetting the implementation of political agendas against Sajeeb Wazed and 
other members of Sheikh Hasina's family.
 
"Mostafa Kamal, who is also being probed over the same allegations, may try 
to flee the country with his family. If he manages to succeed in leaving the 
country, it can hamper the investigation. That is why a travel ban should be 
imposed on him," the ACC plea added.
