Coast Guard seizes 45kg venison, arrests 2 in Bhola

BHOLA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - Coast Guard recovered 45kg of venison and arrested two suspected smugglers during a late-night operation in Bhola early today.

The detainees were identified as M Rafez, 41, and M Maksudur Rahman, 35, both residents of Bhola.

Acting on a tip-off, personnel from the Ilisha Coast Guard station carried out a special drive at the Ilisha launch terminal and surrounding areas. Around 2 am, they searched the Dhaka-bound launch 'Tashrif-1' and seized the venison.

Lieutenant Commander Harun-Ar Rashid, media officer of Coast Guard South Zone, confirmed that the seized venison and the suspects were handed over to forest officials for further action.

The Coast Guard continues its round-the-clock patrols to maintain law and order in the region, said the official.
