Travel ban imposed on ex-minister Abdur Rahman

DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former 
fisheries and livestock minister Abdur Rahman and his wife Dr Mirza Nahida 
Hossain over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the 
order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said Dr Mirza Nahida Hossain get the 
properties worth around Taka 6.30 crore amassed illegally by her husband and 
kept those under her possession.

The ACC already filed a case against her as she made suspicious transactions 
of Taka 26.56 crore through 16 bank accounts and hide the income source of 
that money. For the sake of proper investigation of the case, the two should 
be barred from leaving the country, the plea added.

Meanwhile, the same court today imposed a travel ban on former chairman of 
Milk Vita Sheikh Nadir Hossain Lipu. The court also ordered to block his NID.
