'Ziaur Rahman took initiative for agricultural revolution by digging canals'

DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka North City BNP Convener Aminul Haque today 
said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman took initiative for agricultural 
revolution by digging canals which was a foresighted and timely decision for 
national development.

"Besides, focusing on education and health sectors, President Ziaur Rahman 
launched a canal digging programme for the development of farmers, which gave 
new momentum to the country's agricultural system," he told a discussion and 
doa mahfil at Islamic Foundation here.

Islamic Foundation Jatiya Sramik Karmachari Union organised the programme on 
the occasion of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam.

Aminul said Ziaur Rahman introduced the National Sports Award and took 
initiatives to modernize and unify the sports arena regardless of party 
affiliation.

Sramik Dal Member Secretary Kamrul Zaman also spoke with Islamic Foundation 
Jatiya Sramik Karmachari Union president MA Bari in the chair.
