DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) – Attorney General (AG) Md Asaduzzaman said today that the death of Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashid Khan had profoundly impacted the whole country.

"Major Sinha's death has shaken the people of the entire nation to the point that it weighs on our chests like a mountain," he said in the court here.

The High Court has set June 2 as the date for delivering its verdict in the high-profile murder case of Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashid Khan.

The decision was announced today following conclusion of hearings on the death reference and appeals in the case.

During the proceedings, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman, representing the state, made the remarks.

Presenting the state’s case, the Attorney General argued that all the witnesses, including those who had confessed, confirmed that Major Sinha exited his vehicle unarmed, with both hands raised in a non-threatening posture.

He was first shot twice, then two more times and to ensure his death, his throat was pressured by leg, Asaduzzaman told the bench, which was comprised of Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Justice Md. Sagir Hossain.

He strongly contested the defense's claim of private defense, noting that the accused failed to provide any credible evidence — be it eyewitness testimony, circumstantial proof or documents — to support their alibi.

The claim of private defense is untenable, he said, adding that it is now proven that the accused killed Major Sinha.

Major Sinha was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur check post in Teknaf on the night of July 31, 2020 as he was returning after shooting videos for his YouTube channel in the village of Marishbunia.
