Kidnapped girl rescued, five arrested in Uattara

DHAKA, May 30, 2025 (BSS) - A team of Uttara West Police Station has arrested five members of a kidnapping gang from a house on Road-10/B under Sector 11 in Uttara and rescued a college girl from their den.

The five arrestees are Md Masum Pervej, 38, Md Solaiman Hossain, 38, Shafikul Islam Sourov, 27, Mst Maya, 25, and Mst Ruli Khanom, 19. Police also recovered Taka 1.41 crore, 60 yaba tablets, two CC cameras and three mobile phone sets from their possessions, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) release said here today.

"The victim, an HSC student of Monipur School and College, went out from her home in Rupnagar Residential Area for college on May 26, but didn't return. Her family was looking for her everywhere. At around 2.35 am on May 28, an unidentified person called her mother on mobile phone and demanded Taka 50 thousand in ransom for her daughter. The mother informed the matter to police immediately. Police in the afternoon on May 28, raided the Uttara house and detained the five kidnappers and rescued the victim from there," the DMP release added.

In the primary interrogation, the arrestees said they used to lure girls of different ages to kidnap them, keep them confined to their den and record their naked videos or photographs to blackmail them later. 

Police filed three cases, one under women and children repression prevention act, one under narcotics control act and another under pornography control act, against the detainees.
