Illegal Indian goods worth over Tk 2cr seized in Sunamganj

SUNAMGANJ, June 1, 2025 (BSS) - The district task force team seized huge illegal smuggled goods worth Taka 2 crore 3 lakh 6 thousand during a raid from Haluar Ghat area of the Surma River in the district early this morning.

On a tip-off, a task force team led by assistant commissioner Mehedi Hasan of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, conducted a drive at the ghat around 3.30 am and seized the goods from an engine-powered boat, BGB-28 Battalion sources said.

The goods are 1,700 pieces of Indian sarees, 7,200 pieces of cream and 180 kg of cumin. 

Commander of BGB-28 Battalion, Sunamganj, AKM Zakaria Qadir confirmed the matter and said BGB's operational activities and intelligence surveillance are continuing to prevent smuggling activities ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
