DHAKA, June 1, 2025 (BSS) – Department of Forest (DoF) is set to enhance urban afforestation efforts in the capital through collaboration with the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today, both entities will work together to plant trees on road medians, sidewalks, canal banks and other suitable locations in the DNCC area, according to a press release issued today.

DNCC Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Asaduzzaman and Chief Conservator of Forests Amir Hossain Chowdhury put pen on the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

DNCC administrator Mohammad Azaz was present as the chief guest on the occasion held at DoF headquarters in Agargaon.

Mentioning the signing as a landmark event, the DNCC Administrator said the successful execution of this initiative could change the public perception that cities are inherently polluted and overcrowded.

With effective collaboration between the Forest Department and the City Corporation, the urban landscape can be reshaped into a greener and more livable space, he added.

The plantation programme under the MoU would expedite efforts to enhance the city's beauty and greenery, he said.

Besides, the Chief Conservator of Forests highlighted that the agreement would contribute to preserving the biodiversity of the urban ecosystem.
