3.35 lakh surplus sacrificial animals reared in Pabna

PABNA, June 1, 2025 (BSS) – Around 3.35 lakh surplus sacrificial animals have been prepared in the district, targeting Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest festival of the Muslims.

According to the district office of the Department of Livestock, against the district's demand of 3.12,826 animals, 3,35,378 animals have been reared, an official handout said.

According to official sources, this year a total of 6 lakh 48 thousand 204 sacrificial animals including bulls, oxen, cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep have been prepared in 27,101 farms of the district.

After meeting the district demand, the surplus animals will be sent to other parts of the country including Dhaka and Chattogram. 

Last year too, the number of sacrificial animals reared in Pabna district was twice as high as the demand. 

The district livestock officer said a total of 25 permanent and temporary haats will be set up in the district to sell sacrificial animals.

Police, fake note detector machines and 24 medical teams will work at every cattle markets in the district ahead of Eid to maintain law and order.
