Rashed Khan Menon on 5-day remand in Monir murder case

DHAKA, June 2, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed former minister Rashed Khan Menon on a five-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of garment waste (jhut) trader Monir during the July-August Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order as police produced Menon before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case.

Menon was arrested from the city's Gulshan area on August 22, 2024.

According to the case documents, Monir joined student-people rally in the Shahbagh area on August 5, 2024. He was shot when the rally came under attack at noon. Monir succumbed to his injuries on the spot. 

Monir's widow filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on March 14, 2025.
