SIRAJGANJ, June 13, 2025 (BSS) - The Kachari Bari that belonged to Rabindranath Tagore, the global icon of Bengali literature, situated in Sirajganj's Shahjadpur, has been reopened for visitors after a two-day closure.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Sirajganj district Muhammad Nazrul Islam today officially announced the opening of the Kachhari Bari by handing over an entry token to a visitor.

The authorities of Kachhari Bari halted entry of visitors on Wednesday following tensions created over an incident of alleged misconduct and the beating of a visitor during the Eid holidays.

Nazrul Islam said there was no attack on Rabindra Kachari Bari.

"Kachari Bari is completely intact. The attack was mainly on the Rabindra Auditorium next to Kachari Bari. The attack was not targeting at Kachari Bari but centered on a personal incident between an expatriate visitor and a staffer for an entry token. This incident did not happen due to fundamentalism or any political reason," he added.

He also stated that there is no security deficiency in Rabindra Kachari Bari.
