DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman played main role behind July mass uprising.

"Tarique Rahman was the main architect behind July-August movement. Whenever students announced programmes during the movement, Tarique Rahman would instruct the party men to implement it," he said.

Rizvi said Tarique Rahman would direct BNP leaders and activists from London and sometimes through us.

The veteran BNP leader made these remarks as the chief guest at an event organized by Amra BNP Poribar (We Are BNP Family), a platform dedicated to the BNP and its supporters.

The event was organized to provide medical assistance to those injured in the July mass uprising at the conference room of BNP's central office in Nayapaltan here.

"Until my arrest, I directly helped all student-declared programs including the 'Complete Shutdown' taking place properly under his (Tarique Rahman) direct instructions", Rizvi said.

He said Amra BNP Poribar has been working tirelessly for all BNP leaders and activists who have been victims of the Awami League's oppressive rule, tyranny, and persecution since 1/11 (January 11, 2007).

Apart from this, the organization is now standing by the injured fighters of the July mass uprising, he said.

About national election, Rizvi said, "For the past 17 years, the people of this country could not cast their votes or exercise their right to vote. So, election is first to BNP."

Member Secretary of Amra BNP Poribar Mokhlesur Rahman Mithun presided over the event while its Advisers platform Engineer Md. Ashraf Uddin and Engr. Mustafa-E-Zaman Salim, among others, were present.
