Drug dealer held with yaba, weapons in Patuakhali

DHAKA, June 26, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested an alleged drug dealer with 2,154 pieces of yaba tablets worth about Taka 11 lakh and a locally made weapon from Pairakunj area in Patualhali district early this morning.

The arrested man was identified as Md. Shahin Howlader, 34, a resident of the area.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Coast Guard Station conducted a special raid around 3 am in the area adjacent to the Pairakunj Bridge Project. During the operation, the team detained Shahin and seized the contraband yaba tablets and weapon from his residence, said Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid, media officer of the Coast Guard.

To maintain the law and order situation in the country, Bangladesh Coast Guard has been patrolling 24 hours and such operations will continue in future to prevent drug trafficking.
