ACC conducts drive at Rampal power plant

BAGERHAT, June 27, 2025 (BSS) - A team of Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted an operation at Rampal Power Plant office and confirmed allegations of salary discrimination and looting of instrument from the plant.

The team led by Assistant Director of ACC’s Bagerhat office Md Saidur Rahman conducted the raid yesterday afternoon and collected evidences of irregularities.

While talking to journalists after the drive, Saidur Rahman said that they preliminary found evidences of allegations including salary discrimination between the employees between Bangladesh and India, tax exemption and coal purchase.

“We have collected all those evidences. And we will send those to the headquarters. The next course of steps will be taken after getting instructions,” he said.

The Rampal Power Station is a 1320 megawatt coal-fired power plant at Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat District. 

The plan has been set up by BIFPCL (Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited) which is 50:50 joint venture between India's state owned National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Bangladesh's Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
