Water level in 54 rivers rises, 58 falls: FFWC

DHAKA, June 28, 2025 (BSS) - Water levels at 54 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 58 stations recorded fall.

Among the 119 monitored river stations, water levels at seven stations have remained steady while no stations are flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The water levels of all major rivers are flowing below the danger level, said the bulletin. 

The water levels of the Surma and Kushiyara rivers are falling. Over the next two days, the water levels of these rivers may continue to fall and remain stable on the following day. Moderate to moderately-heavy rainfall is likely in this basin over the next three days. 

The water level of the Brahmaputra River is falling, while the water level of the Jamuna River remains stable. Over the next two days, the water levels of the Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers may rise, and during the following three days, the water levels may remain steady. However, the rivers are expected to flow below the danger level. 

The water levels of the Ganges and Padma rivers are rising. This trend may continue for the next five days; however, the rivers are expected to flow below the danger level, it added. 

The water level of the Muhuri River in the Chattogram division is rising, while the water levels of the Feni, Halda, and Matamuhuri rivers remain stable, and the water levels of the Gomti and Sangu rivers are falling; all are flowing below the danger level. Over the next three days, the water levels of the Sangu, Halda, and Matamuhuri rivers may rise, while the Muhuri, Gomti, and Feni rivers may remain stable for the next 24 hours and then start to fall over the following two days. 

Moderately-heavy rainfall to heavy rainfall is likely in this basin over the next three days.
